Mission Profile

Nungalinya College co-teachers

Supported by BCA from Mid 2026

BCA is supporting Nungalinya College so they can employ Indigenous co-teachers. Nungalinya’s vision is to equip Indigenous men and women for leadership roles in both churches and communities. One of the most critical components of Nungalinya’s success in recent years has been the involvement of Indigenous teachers. These educators bring invaluable lived experience, cultural understanding, and unique perspectives that are essential in creating a learning environment that is both culturally respectful and biblically grounded.

About Nungalinya College
Larrakia Country
Nungalinya College is a combined churches training college for Indigenous Australians. The College trains men and women for leadership roles in churches and communities by exploring the Bible and Christian faith contextually. Students are trained to understand and participate healthily in community life while strengthening and celebrating Indigenous identity. Approximately 95 per cent of the student intake is from remote communities across the NT, WA, QLD, and down into SA.

Pray for the Co-Teacher Program
  • Thank God for the role Indigenous co-teachers play in being cultural bridges for their non-Indigenous co-teachers. They help facilitate better understanding of the cultural and learning needs of Nungalinya students and often know if there are issues going on outside the classroom. Pray God would strengthen them in this role.
  • Pray for strength for Indigenous co-teachers to persevere and focus on their work. Many families face complex health issues which are ongoing worries.
  • Pray for Nungalinya students to have clear minds to focus on their studies when they arrive in Darwin, especially if they are coming from, or missing out on, sorry business.
