Jude & Andy Benton minister in the Cooperating Parish of Croajingolong in the Diocese of Gippsland. The parish includes St Peter’s Mallacoota and St John’s Cann River. The Parish was hit hard by the devastating Black Summer Bushfires, followed by COVID restrictions. Through those difficulties, many new opportunities for ministry have emerged, including a weekly Christian radio broadcast, and involvement in recovery and community projects.
BCA’s link with Croajingolong dates back to 1921, when our founder SJ Kirkby first travelled there by foot. In 1922, Cann River became just the third location that BCA supported in both church ministry and through nurses who served the surrounding area. St John’s Cann River was built in 1928 from funds donated by BCA Deaconess Edith Reece.
b>The Bentons Prayer Points for September 2025
As winter gives way to spring, pray that the new life, growth and energy that the physical spring brings, can be reflected in people’s lives and faith.
As businesses look for summer staff, may the right people move to town.
The Bentons Prayer Points for October 2025
Please pray with us as Ken Spackman, one of our Mallacoota wardens, gets ordained as a deacon tomorrow Saturday 18 October, 11 am at Sale Cathedral.
We give thanks for Ken’s ministry. Pray for Ken, wife Anne and their family as they support Ken in this new calling.
Give thanks for our Opshop and the ministry of care and listening that it enables. Pray for enough volunteers for summer, and that volunteers will have courage to share their faith.
The Bentons Prayer Points for November 2025
As we begin to plan Christmas events & services, Community Carols, and summer activities, pray for wisdom and enthusiasm.
Pray too for the Scripture Union and Theos teams as they prepare for another summer mission.
