Greg Harris – National Director
Today I’m delighted to announce that Marinus & Hannah van Meerten along with their son Samuel and newborn daughter Elianna are moving to the Diocese of Gippsland in Victoria to take up a Minister-in-Training role supported by BCA. Marinus & Hannah will serve in the Parish of Bass/ Phillip Island with a particular focus on San Remo.
Marinus studied law at university in The Netherlands before sensing a call to ordained ministry and moving to Australia.
“Christ is the all-surpassing treasure of my life,” says Marinus. “He commands my destiny, has called me to Himself and to His service, and demands my total allegiance. He is my wisdom, my strength, my song, and I can only seek to live a life worthy of my calling in the hope of being useful to Him as co-worker in the Kingdom of God and ambassador of God’s reconciliation.”
Since coming to Australia, Marinus has studied at Ridley College in Melbourne and served at St James’ Old Cathedral and St John’s Cranbourne. A BCA mission week clarified his desire to serve in rural Australia.
Hannah, who also studied law at university, grew up in Victoria and has a particular heart for mercy ministry and supporting families in the life of the church.
Together Marinus & Hannah are drawn to rural life and seek to serve in a setting where relationships are deep, community is close, and the Gospel can be lived and shared in everyday ways.
Please join me in welcoming the van Meertens to the BCA community and pray for them as they prepare to move to the Gippsland Diocese to be trained up for full-time parish ministry.
