Port Hedland

Diocese of North West Australia

Port Hedland is the second largest town in the Pilbara in the Diocese of North West Australia. It is located on the remote West Australian coast and is about 1646 kilometres from Perth. It has a population of around 12,000, is home to the highest tonnage port in Australia - the largest exporter of iron ore in the world. Many people move to Port Hedland for a few years, chasing high wages and financial security, before moving back to ‘civilisation’. These wages foster a culture that focuses on work and money.

June-August Prayer Points for Port Hedland
The Diocese of North West Australia and BCA are searching for a new Senior Minister for Port Hedland after the departure of Philip Knight in March. Please pray for the congregation as they grieve the loss of the Knight family who served in Port Hedland for 14 years. Pray that the right person of God’s choosing will see the opportunities that exist to extend His kingdom in the town.
