Port Hedland

Port Hedland is the second largest town in the Pilbara in the Diocese of North West Australia. It is located on the remote West Australian coast and is about 1646 kilometres from Perth. It has a population of around 12,000, is home to the highest tonnage port in Australia - the largest exporter of iron ore in the world. Many people move to Port Hedland for a few years, chasing high wages and financial security, before moving back to ‘civilisation’. These wages foster a culture that focuses on work and money.

Philip & Elke Knight

Philip and Elke Knight moved to Port Hedland in 2006 to assist Bill and Jocelyn Ross at St Matthew’s Port Hedland. In 2009, Philip became Senior Minister and he conducts the weekly service and oversees the various bible study groups that meet throughout the week. Philip and Elke faithfully proclaim the gospel to the ever-transient population who come chasing dreams of financial security and equip Christians to serve the Kingdom wherever they go.

The Knights' September Prayer Points
Give thanks for the opportunity for Philip to share at a local rehab centre each Thursday afternoon. Pray for hearts that hunger to know God more and hearts that see the real hope, riches and power that we have in Christ.
