Longreach / Barcaldine

Anglican Church Central Queensland

Longreach is located in central west Queensland, approximately 700 kilometres west of Rockhampton on the far north coast of Queensland. Named for the "long reach" to the Thomson River, it is one of the main regional centres and is home to the Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame and Qantas Outback Founders Museum. Its main industries are cattle and sheep production, and tourism. St Andrew’s Anglican Church is located on Emu Street.

Barcaldine is a small regional town located 100 kilometres east of Longreach and is situated on Lagoon Creek. The Parish of Barcaldine includes St Peter’s Barcaldine, St Mark’s Alpha, St Matthew’s Jericho and St George’s Aramac.

The entire region has been ravaged by a fierce drought for a number of years.
