My Top 10 Things to do at Easter

Rachel Dirks – BCA 4 Kids Coordinator

I love Eastertime, so I have compiled a list of some of the things my family love to do in the season of celebrating Jesus’ forever life. I would love to hear what your family does during Easter.

1. Good Friday Service –
There is something about the chill in the air being autumn, and a service on the Friday of the Easter weekend has a seriousness about it that helps me reflect on what Jesus has given us.

2. Hot Cross Buns –
If you haven’t already been eating hot cross buns since January when they were in stores, Good Friday is the day. Toasted with lashings of butter so that your whole house smells of spice and baked fruit bread brings all of the nostalgia.
3. Hot Cross Bun Bread and Butter Pudding with Easter Eggs on top –
a winning dessert for Good Friday evening.
4. Saturdays are normally spent preparing for Sunday –
Whether that is setting up the church Easter Egg Hunt and Easter Day service, we are normally using the day to get ready.
5. Easter Egg Hunt –
It’s Easter Sunday and my family spends the morning running around the house looking for Easter Eggs, making sure everyone has a fair amount.
6. Easter Egg Milkshakes –
Then for the only morning of the year we are allowed to have chocolate for breakfast. Particularly drinking milk in hollow chocolate eggs that we have bitten the top off.

7. Easter Sunday Church –
We love gathering with the people of God to celebrate the best news ever – Jesus is the King of Life. This year I can’t wait to sing with all my might about the very best news I have ever heard. Jesus wins!

8. After Sunday morning church,
we all relax and keep eating Easter Eggs. We have a special lunch and gather and pray as a family and thank God for all He has done  for us.
9. Easter Night church –
Can you believe we cannot get enough of church on Easter weekend?! We love celebrating with our friends about the amazing work Jesus did and who he is.
10. We love reading the Bible all the way through Easter –
Slowly going
through the stories of the weekend and being reminded again and again of God’s great love for us.

I hope you have the most wonderful Easter and that you enjoy celebrating the forever life that Jesus gives.
