WELCOME
Matt & Emily Goldman have moved from Sydney to Darwin, where Matt is working as a ministry trainee in the Cathedral. Matt has recently finished his Bachelor of Divinity and Emily is a fourth-year doctor who plans to become a GP.
Emily Quinn is the Coordinator of the Foundation Studies Department at Nungalinya College. In this role she oversees the three foundation courses that Nungalinya offers, as well as teaches. Although a continuing role, Emily is now supported by BCA.
James & Charly Boardman, together with their children Elijah, Joshua and Hannah, have moved from Sydney to the Central West. James has completed a Bachelor of Divinity at Moore College and will take on the ministry trainee role in the Bathurst Cathedral which was recently vacated by Steven Klouth.
Steve & Vanessa Weickhardt have returned to BCA. The Weickhardts previously served with us in Strathfieldsaye from 2011 to 2019. Steve & Vanessa have moved from Port Lincoln to the Mallee district of the Bendigo Diocese to take on the new role of ‘Mallee Missioner’.
Former Field Staff David Mitchell has re-joined BCA as a Deputationist in Western Australia. In this role he will visit churches, encourage supporters and seek to garner more support for BCA. David is married to Traci and they have three kids in primary school. David’s main work is with the Australian Fellowship of Evangelical Students at Curtin University where he’s been serving since 2019.
After 18 years of providing support for the Watson family, and in particular Jim’s work with Indigenous young men (in Kununurra, Nungalinya College, NT Christian Schools and TAFE), BCA has switched its primary support from Jim to Natalie. Natalie is the Women’s Pastoral Ministry Worker for the Diocese of the Northern Territory.
Elza Lee has joined the NSW/ACT team in the role of Administrative Assistant. In this role she will work alongside Paul Sampson in caring for the supporters and Field Staff of this region. Elza previously worked as a menu development and research chef for a catering company. She attends and serves at Full Life Ministry, the English ministry of Sydney Full Gospel Church (Korean) in Greenacre.
CONGRATULATIONS
Simon, Angela, Grace & Esther Owen welcomed Josiah James Owen on Monday 14 November 2022 at Mount Isa Hospital, weighing 3.45kg and measuring 50cm long. Josiah means ‘God supports and heals’.
FAREWELL
After 15 years serving with BCA in the parish of Sunraysia South, the Barclay family concluded their service with us in December 2022. Dale, Rachel, Eden & Talitha have moved to Eaglehawk where Dale has taken on the role of Senior Minister at St Peter’s Anglican Church.
Simon Reeve is now the Senior Minister of Northern Beaches Anglicans following the resignation of The Revd Canon David Hanger. While staying in the same parish, his new role is not funded by BCA so we bid farewell to Simon, Alison, Ella, Zoe & Joel.
Sue Rice who has worked at BCA twice in her career, has officially retired. Sue worked in the Accounts team from 2006–2009 and then returned between 2017–2022 where she worked on updating our databases as well as filling in as the EA to the National Director, and most recently as the Admin Assistant for the NSW/ACT Regional Office. A vital cog on the Level 7 Sydney team, Sue’s absence will be deeply felt both personally and professionally.
The National Office said a very sad farewell to Kim Hinkley in early January. Kim worked as the Executive Assistant to National Director Greg Harris as well as previous NDs Mark Short and David Crain. Kim is now working at St Paul’s Grammar School in Cranebrook where she is the EA to the Principal. In her four years at BCA Kim became a valuable colleague and dear friend to those in the office and in the field – she will be greatly missed.
Philip, Jess, Jasper, Tabitha, Otto and Corin van’t Spyker have moved to northwest New South Wales where Philip is serving as the new Assistant Minister of Moree Anglican Church. Philip will seek to grow ministry in the parish as well as work with children and youth.
VALE
The Reverend Robert (Bob) Collie (17 October 1927 – 13 November 2022) was ordained as a minister in 1961 and finished full-time church ministry with BCA in Wilcannia, serving with wife Phyllis (dec) from 1986–1993. In his book ‘How God changed my life’ Bob said, “The BCA motto was ‘Never too far, never too few’. No one, however remote, should miss out on hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ.” Bob is survived by son Michael and wife Elspeth, Lucy, Katy and Kevin; daughter Angela and husband Rob, Grace, Jonathan and Sofia, David and Naomi; Marrianne, Mary, Ros.
Beverley Bell (10 December 1939 – 28 December 2022) served with husband Brian with BCA in a lay role in the Parish of Wilcannia/ Menindee from 1997–2001.They were initially looking to work there for a period of eleven months, but God had other plans. Beverley is survived by husband Brian, children Coralie, Nerida, Hilton and Lyndon, and their partners Samantha, Yas, and Kelly as well as grandchildren William, Lachlan, Emily, Charlie, Christiana, Hollie and Evie.
