WELCOME

Bush Church Aid is supporting Naomi Ireland in her roleas the new Diocese of Northern Territory’s Children's Ministry Officer. Naomi was previously the Families and Children's Minister at St Matt’s Manly where she led a team consisting of three staff members, 16 volunteer coordinators and approximately 150 volunteers.

Steven & Caitlin Klouth have joined the BCA family. Steven is serving as a Trainee Assistant Minister in the Parish of Kelso. This position, a joint initiative between BCA and the Diocese of Bathurst aims to provide a pathway for new college graduates to train for future ministry.

David & Lauren Horne, together with their children Elka, Posy & Lennox have taken over leading the faithful at Southern Beaches Anglican in Tasmania. The Hornes were previously based in Melbourne where David had been undertaking a Master of Divinity at Ridley College and working part-time at City on a Hill.

BCA is supporting the ministry of the new Anglican Dean of Nungalinya College, Ruth Walton. Ruth and her husband Lee moved to Darwin in September. She looks forward to using her experience in teaching and ordained ministry to work in remote Australia.

Mike, Sandra & David Uptin have joined the BCA family with Mike taking on the role of BCA QLD/NNSW Regional Officer recently vacated by David & Julie Rogers-Smith. Before accepting this role Mike was the Rector of Surfers Paradise Anglican Church. He is currently undertaking a Master of Arts (Ministry) through QLD Theological College.

Scripture Union NT has a new Schools Ministry Coordinator, David Pohlmann and his wife Margaret Scott. In this BCA-supported role David will also work alongside Religious Instruction volunteers teaching in public schools in the Greater Darwin Area. David has over a decade’s experience with Scripture Union – as a chaplain, an overseer of Religious Instruction programs, and as a manager.

 

FAREWELL

Ayumi Tamsett has taken on a full-time teaching role in Dubbo in 2021. Ayumi together with husband Peter and children Luka, Micah, Liam and Hannah served in Gilgandra for eight years, with Ayumi working in a BCA funded chaplaincy role since 2018.

 

CONGRATULATIONS

Brendan Hurley was priested at Holy Cross Cathedral Geraldton on Sunday 4 October 2020. At the same service Simon Roberts was collated as an Archdeacon.

Ted Brush (photographer) Rebecca Jee (designer) and Janine van den Tillaart (Editor) received a Gold Award in the Category of Best Cover Magazine in the 2020 Australasian Religious Press Association Awards. The photo was taken by Ted when he was part of a Moore College mission trip to Newman.

 

VALE

Patricia (Pat) Williams (16 August 1927 – 16 January 2021) together with her husband Arthur (deceased) served with BCA in Minnipa (1956–1960), Mount Magnet (1960–1963) in the NSW Office (1963–1970) and finally at Newman (1982–1988). Pat and Arthur were always known for setting the gold standard for what could be achieved as a true ministry partnership. Pat also served as President of the BCA Auxiliary and as the Mission contact and Mission Secretary at the Anglican Retirement Village (ARV) in Castle Hill. She also ran the BCA Support Group at ARV which meets once a month. Pat leaves behind Philip, Peter, Ruth and Lynell, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

David Hamilton Peters OAM (15 August 1955– 16 December 2020) was an energetic and faithful member of our National Council and Executive. He also served on the Finance, Property and Risk Committee. David died suddenly after complications following surgery. David is survived by his wife Sue, his siblings and their families.
