The Real Australian Winter 2022 Editorial

On a flight recently from Perth to Darwin I had a window seat. This is a unique situation because I normally prefer the aisle, and it afforded me the opportunity to again be struck by the vastness of this country. As you can imagine there was a lot of red, rugged, and dry country to be seen. It once again reminded me of the remoteness that many of our Field Staff experience.

In exciting news, I’m pleased to announce we have appointed a new Indigenous Ministry Trainee in South Tamworth. Ashley Garlett, a Balladong Nyoongar man from Merredin in Western Australia will commence his traineeship in late April.

Engaging with Indigenous culture through play

Geraldton’s youngest children can now enjoy engaging with Indigenous culture through play with the addition of four Indigenous dolls that have been added to the toy collection at St George’s Anglican Church in Bluff Point. The dolls were purchased in celebration of NAIDOC week, thanks to funding made available to BCA Field Staff to provide opportunities to engage with Indigenous culture and community.

Living out servant-heartedness in Roxby Downs

One of Trinity Church's convictions is that we are involved in God's mission to all nations; Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth (Acts 1:8). And for us, one of our practical ways of expressing this is through partnerships with mission organisations, including Bush Church Aid. As the Youth Pastor at Trinity Church Adelaide, I've been eager to see our youth engaged in this partnership and exposed to life in a different part of God's world.
