Introducing our new Queenland/Northern New South Wales Regional Officer

Greg Harris - National Director

I’m pleased to announce that The Revd Mike Uptin has accepted the role of BCA QLD/NNSW Regional Officer.

Mike and his wife Sandra have one teenage son, David, and reside on Queensland’s Gold Coast where Mike is the Rector of Surfers Paradise Anglican Church.

Born and raised in northern NSW, Mike had a church upbringing, but traces his conversion to when he moved to Sydney for work in the early 1980s. After being invited to church by his flatmate and meeting another committed Christian, Mike had his lightbulb moment. “I soon realised that I had to make a personal decision for or against Christ as my Lord and Saviour. My early Christian growth was strongly grounded in the truth and single-focus of the Scriptures, the uniqueness of Christ, the need for personal growth and the priority of mission,” he says.

Mike trained at Moore Theological College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Theology and a Diploma of Ministry. He is currently undertaking a Master of Arts (Ministry) through Queensland Theological College. As Rector of Surfers Paradise Anglican, Mike is involved in all aspects of leading the church in ministry, including administration, finance, pastoral care, preaching, preparing and leading services as well as maintaining and encouraging a small staff team and large volunteer team.

With the addition of Mike to the team we now have a full complement of Senior Officers. Mike will commence in the role early in 2021 and I look forward to working together with him to increase the support and ministry of BCA in the QLD/NNSW region.

Please join me in welcoming Mike, Sandra & David to the BCA family.
