Bush Church Aid welcomes enquiries from committed Christians who wish to explore whether they have the convictions, gifts and character to serve God in the bush. Listed below are some current opportunities:

Lightning Ridge, Northern New South Wales

The Bush Church Aid Society and The Anglican Diocese of Armidale are seeking an ordained Anglican minister with a commitment to teaching the Bible and a passion for teaching the lost to serve in this unique outback community.


The Lightning Ridge Community Church gathers weekly in this culturally diverse opal mining town of over 2000 people. The Church has a Sunday morning children’s ministry and there are excellent opportunities to teach Scripture at the local school. There is a weekly Bible study group and a daytime women’s group. Regular services are also held in the outlying centres of Goodooga and Cumborah.

There is a modern church building in Lightning Ridge and a well-equipped vicarage with four bedrooms and a study. The congregation has long-standing mission partnerships with city churches and there are excellent opportunities to reach out to tourists in the cooler months.

Coober Pedy, South Australia

The Bush Church Aid Society and The Anglican Diocese of Willochra are seeking an ordained Anglican minister for an exciting pastoral position. It is fully stipended and includes accommodation.

Coober Pedy is an iconic outback community of over 1,500 people located 850km north of Adelaide on the Stuart Highway. It is a major tourism and service centre, best known for underground opal mining.

The ministry encompasses the underground Catacomb Church as well as mining chaplaincy at the nearby Prominent Hill site. The congregation has a long-standing commitment to solid teaching. There are many opportunities to reach out to the community and to tourists who visit the underground church

Snowy Mountains Ministry

Commencing as soon as practical, BCA and the Experimental Ministries Unit of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra & Goulburn, seek a church planter for a new ministry in Jindabyne NSW. Jindabyne is a thriving town and a major gateway and service centre for both summer and winter sports in southern Monaro.

Applicants must be in priest's orders and be able to be licenced by the Bishop of Canberra & Goulburn. Proven experience in leading a parish is essential and experience in church planting is highly desireable.  Applicants need to meet all the requirements for Working with Children & Safe Ministry for Canberra & Goulburn and BCA.

BCA for Kids & Dusty Boots Coordinator

BCA are seeking a part-time coordinator (two days per week) for our children's and youth programs - BCA for Kids and Dusty Boots.  This is a new and exciting role for a creative and innovative person with significant potential for growth.

Reporting to the NSW/ACT Regional Officer the successful candidate will have experience in youth and children's ministry, theological training to at least diploma level, and experience in our schools' system. A current WWCC and Safe Ministry Training are essential.  The role will commence in October 2019

Part-Time Digital Content Marketing Strategist

The Bush Church Aid Society is seeking a keen Christian person with a passion for ministry in rural Australia to fill the role of Content Marketing Strategist, based in our National Office, which is located above Wynyard Station in the Sydney CBD.

Reporting to the Communications Coordinator, the Content Marketing Strategist will plan, develop and direct electronic content to build digital supporter engagement and migrate supporters to become active financial donors.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised with superior communications skills.

Southern Beaches Anglican is looking for a coordinator to lead the development of the community mentoring program.

The role is based in Dodges Ferry, Tasmania.

A combination of experience in schools, chaplaincy, youth work, working with volunteers and administration are highly favourable. Applicants with experience in some but not all of these are also encouraged to apply.

This appointment will be for 2 years initially with the possibility of extension.


The Diocese of Tasmania is a ChildSafe organisation.
