Christ in Christmas

A poem by Susan Liersch – BCA Field Staff, Longreach/Barcaldine

The world needs a stable influence,

In the face of rising danger.

A stable, Holy in ambience.

A baby in a manger.

The world needs a new beginning,

To break out of this broken space.

Who will rescue us from all this sinning?

A child takes His place.

For the world has been given a Saviour,

Jesus gave His life to set us free.

He said “Love God and neighbour,

Come, follow me.”

But the world turns its back!

Choosing dark instead of light.

Focussed merely on Santa’s sack,

Nativity fades from sight.

Yet, God still loves His creation.

Even now, calling those who will hear.

“Come, join My Christmas celebration.

Let My love cast out your fear”.
