Sunraysia South |
| The Parish of Sunraysia South takes in the township of Red Cliffs which is a very typical, medium-sized country town of some 2,700 people at the
northern end of Victoria’s Mallee region. Its name derives, quite literally, from the colouration of the 70-metre cliffs
to the east of town. Very flat with wide streets, it is located on the Calder Highway, 544 kms north west of Melbourne, 16
kms south of Mildura and 67m above sea level. One of the country’s largest irrigation pumping stations brings water from
the Murray River to the district where it is put to use growing citrus fruits and grapes, largely for transformation into
dried fruit. Thanks to the support of BCA and the vision of the Diocese of Bendigo, Sunraysia South has been established as a parish. The long term goal is for it to become self supporting. The Society will contribute $50,000 in 2007 into the partnership to establish the work. Pray that link parishes will rise up to cover the additional budget allocation that will be necessary. Dale and Rachel Barclay took up the position on the 4th of February 2007. Dale was previously rector in Robinvale. They have 4 children Samuel, Joseph, Eden and Talitha.
