Mogo - Boomerang Meeting Place

GO TO PRAYER NOTES

Mogo is a small town, 10km south of Batemans Bay on the New South Wales south coast.  Tom and Muriel Slockee have been exercising a gospel-focused ministry in the Batemans Bay - Mogo area for over 17 years. Tom first started a church in the old Anglican building seventeen years ago.

Bomerang Meeting Place (BMP) is a Ministry Unit of the Anglican Diocese of Canberra and Goulburn.  It is an Aboriginal led ministry, for all people; proclaiming the gospel through worship, nurture, care and presence. Rev Tom Slockee with wife Muriel, Maryann Nye, Val Gray and a committed team involved in church, family support, youth activities, women’s activities, and spiritual guidance with prayer support.

BMP is about the proclamation of our faith in Jesus Christ. To declare, from an Aboriginal Christian perspective that the way, truth and abundant life can only be found through an encounter and personal relationship with the Lord Jesus. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will be encouraged and supported to develop their self-confidence, upgrade their skills and be built up to overcome a syndrome of dependency. It is intended to be welcoming and inclusive of all people but there will be special programs designed and run to meet the specific social, spiritual and emotional needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.

Rev'd Tom and Muriel serve their people through their gifts of the Holy Spirit, working in Church services, developing youth and children's ministry and community housing and in being conduits for reconciliation and friendship.  Tom's aim is to build a servant Christian community, whom people can turn to for help, prayer and sustenance. There is a multi-purpose building where we gather for church plus providing culturally appropriate educational and vocational skills training to Aboriginal people in an environment suited to their needs.

There are needs and issues but the greatest is for people to come into a saving, life changing relationship with Jesus Christ. The ministry is of prayer, visitation, church services, baptisms, funerals, weddings, hospital pastoral care as well as practical and social things such as Aboriginal Housing and Health, Youth Services, Training and Employment and Education.

BCA has enabled Tom to be full time at proclaiming the one mediator between God and men the man Christ Jesus. Tom and Muriel have a grown family of four boys.
