Winton Parish

Winton – the centre of Queensland – edging the desert, has all the challenges and joys of rural/remote living. Struggling to continue a healthy economy it is looking more and more to tourism – dinosaurs, Waltzing Matilda, opals, and birthplace of Qantas. This is reflected in the numbers of tourists generally and BCA Nomads particularly who support, worship and work with the parish and community in the winter months.

Rev Bob and Sue Witten

Bob and Sue Witten – no strangers to small town living – are building bridges between the church and the community, and between the three churches in their ministry area. Although Winton is the major centre, Boulia and Bedourie are not to be forgotten. Bob mentors the school chaplain/community youth worker as he explores the challenges and joys of rural/remote ministry and ensures the next generation is introduced to Christ.
