Roxby Downs

A South Australian mining town of about 5,000 people, Roxby Downs has a young population. While the majority of residents are permanent, at least 1,000 people fly-in-and-fly-out depending on their shifts at the mine. Many of the locals are migrants from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and New Guinea. The Parish of Roxby Downs is a joint Anglican-Uniting Church Parish. Bob and Jan McKay worked there from February 2008 and completed their Intentional Interim Ministry in mid-January 2010.

Rev Mary and Dr Owen Lewis

Rev Mary and Dr Owen Lewis

Rev Mary Lewis who with her husband Owen have served as Medical Missionaries with CMS in Nepal and lectured at St Andrews Hall training college in Melbourne. Owen will continue his medical work both in Roxby Downs and in Nepal. Mary will give leadership to this multinational church in Roxby Downs. The parish considers this an excellent appointment with the ministry couple having appropriate skills for both the church and the community.
