Gulargambone Co-Worker
Gulargambone is a small town of 500 people located 50 kilometres from Gilgandra. The town is home to many farming families and has a large local Indigenous population. The town has one K-12 school which means many young adults leave town to go to university. Some return after their studies while others move elsewhere.
Mark Doyle
Mark Doyle is employed as Gulargambone Central School’s chaplain. Just 90 students attend the school and Mark spends two days a week trying to be “Christ’s light in the school”. He regularly hangs out with kids during recess and lunchtime and joins them for practical classes such as cooking and woodwork. In the past he has run ‘positive values’ programs for children in year nine and 10, with the aim of instilling Christ-like values in them. Mark is also a go-to person for religious counsel. The remainder of the week he works as a farmer.
