Wickham Parish |
| Wickham is 40 km's to the
north of Karratha and its construction was started in
1970 by the Cliff's Robe River Iron Associates. The
parish is situated on the Pilbara coast in the heart of
WA's vast resources industry. It consists of the Robe
River Iron towns of Wickham (Port), Pannawonica
(Mine 200 km inland), Point Samson (fishing), and
historic Roebourne (rural) which has a large proportion
of Aboriginal People - a total population of about 4,500.
The area features the restored pearling port of
Cossack, which attracts many visitors during mid
year. There are 3 small congregations meeting weekly at Wickham, twice a month at Pannawonica and monthly at Onslow, the only Protestant services in each place. Occasional services are also conducted in historic Holy Trinity Church at Roebourne. In addition there is regular sharing in worship and community outreach with the Aboriginal and Catholic Churches. |
