Haynes Commissioning

WELCOME

Stuart, Kathy and Christina Haynes were welcomed by the Diocese of Rockhampton as they were commissioned to a new ministry at Blackwater in March. This ministry is a fresh expression geared towards the growing mining boom and resulting growth and influx of families in the area.

Mark Doyle

Mark Doyle joins BCA as a new co-worker. Mark is now the chaplain at Gulargambone High School. He is well known in the school, by local youth and the local Christian community.

WELCOME HOME

Jackie and Bill France

The Society welcomes back Bill and Jackie France to Sydney who are finishing their ministry in the Murchison Parish in North-West Australia. Bill has also served as Archdeacon of the Midwest in the Diocese and in a number of other ways and they will be missed. As well as doing some deputation work for BCA Bill will commence duties as the Acting Head of Christian Studies at Arden Anglican School at Beecroft.

FAREWELL

Philip and Kathy Knife

Philip and Kathy Knife are concluding their time as the honorary WA Regional Officers in June. Their commitment to this role over the last five years has been exceptional and the WA Region and BCA have been richly blessed by their efforts. BCA will, upon their retirement, look at developing and strengthening the WA Regional Officer position into a fuller and more dedicated position following on from their efforts and the growth seen in Western Australia.

NEW PROJECTS

Arthur Tanner

BCA is presently looking at candidates for two of three ministries in Tasmania to be overseen by Bishop Ross Nicholson.

Arthur Tanner has started a programme as the Chaplain on the South Australia School of the Air and BCA has assisted him in this wonderful opportunity by purchasing a laptop computer and wireless plan.

VACANCIES

The Society is still looking for a field staff member with nursing qualifications for Kormilda College in Darwin. Please pray for God’s provision for this ministry.

VALE

Our heartfelt condolences, love and prayers go out to Ray Ctercteko and his family as they grieve the loss of his wife Joy. Ray served the Society as a committee member from the seventies then as Honorary Treasurer for many years in the eighties and nineties and as Vice President in the nineties. Joy was a member of the NSW BCA Auxiliary for a number of years. We note also the passing of Lily Livingstone and extend our love and sympathy to her family. Lily served with her husband David at Wilcannia and Streaky Bay from 1938 to 1946. David then became NSW Secretary for BCA and later assistant organising missioner. David passed away in 1990.

Pray for Jenny Gaulton (Karratha) and her family. Jenny’s mother, Edna Owen, passed away on 18th April in Sydney.

MOVES & UPDATES

Bob and Sue Witten

Joy Sandefur has recently returned from the UK having spoken at the Oxford Round table in March about the use of indigenous languages. This was a remarkable opportunity for Joy and a chance to place BCA on the world stage.

Bob and Sue Witten are finishing in Tasmania in June. After a period of long service leave they will be serving in Winton, Queensland, for the next couple of years.

Ron and Crystal Spindler

Ron and Crystal Spindler will be ordained priests for the Diocese of Riverina by Bishop Doug Stevens on 14th June, 2008.
