Looking for something to do?

Be part of the exciting programme “CHRIST FOR CAMPERS” … … …

When retirement beckons, many of us think of holidays, and doing ‘what we have always wanted to do’ whatever that means to each of us.  Mike and Joan Maude, formerly of Quakers Hill Anglican Church in Sydney believed their call was to help minister in areas where ministry often struggles due to lack of resources.

Six years ago, Mike and Joan sold up and moved to Broome, WA.  They saw an untouched harvest that needed reaping in the caravan parks that overflowed each year with baby boomer retirees escaping the southern winters, seeking sunshine, fishing and the ‘good life’.

Mike took his vision to BCA, whose involvement in this ministry would give a credible backing the programme required, and through the BCA Nomad programme, Mike expected to source the accredited volunteers needed to see his vision come to fruition. And so this seasonal ministry came into being -

 “CHRIST FOR CAMPERS”

Mike and Joan ran the first Christ for Campers programme in 2004 at Eighty Mile Beach, and this outreach program has run each year since.  2006 saw an expansion down the coast to Carnarvon where Mike and Joan now live, and in 2007 there are plans to extend the current ministry at Eighty Mile Beach and Derby into caravan parks in Kalbarri, Onslow and some remote Aboriginal Communities of the Kimberly.
