A Partnership between the Mission Diocese of Tasmania and The Bush Church Aid Society .
“….keep looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith” Hebrews 12:2a
The Anglican Rural Community Development Project (ARC) is a wide project designed
specifically to reinvigorate rural ministries in mission and ministry.
The key elements of the project are:-
- A commitment from the Parish to work intentionally in finding and building a vital
future
- The offering of the care and leadership of a Project Priest or minister(s)
- The provision of care, encouragement and guidance of the Project Partners
The primary aim of the project is to enable the fulfillment of the Diocesan
Bishop’s Vision for Tasmania “….to create together a caring , sustainable and growing Christian presence in
every part of Tasmania”
The project seeks to serve communities who are facing some mix of these types of
experiences:-
- Difficulties in maintaining basic ministries
- A desire for a rethink of mission and ministry
- Increasing dependence on financial reserves
- More talk about money and fundraising than community and caring
- A need for help in getting new ideas off the ground.
The Parishes currently considering being part of the Project are centered in the
Midlands and adjacent areas. It is likely that the Project will engage a Project Coordinator and two Project
pastor/priests.
- Please pray for the Parishes as they make preparation and assess their
willingness to join the Project
- Please pray for the preparation and appointment of those to lead the Project.
(It is hopeful that these may be drawn from those who have already served with the Society).
- Pray for the processes of the Diocese and Society to be effective, efficient
and discerning as the Project is established in the second half of this year.
- Pray for the Society as it assembles the resources and finance to make the
Project a reality

“God called Noah to build an ark, and when he obeyed , God preserved his family and
repopulated the earth. Noah understood the pressure of society in creating something new., In the church and
society of our day we need to build an ‘ark’ which is a caring , sustainable and growing Christian presence in
every district of Tasmania. In order to do this we will need to ‘keep looking unto Jesus the author and
finisher of our faith.’ Hebrews 12:2a” …. From the Project launch documents
