Tennant Creek Parish |
| Throughout this large parish (the
distance to the monthly visited centre of Borroloola is
720 km one way) the mood of the people is vibrant and
pioneering. Live cattle sales overseas are boosting
confidence in the top end market. However most of the
cattle are born in the Barkly area then trucked into
Queensland, WA and into the sub tropics of NT. The
seasons have been reasonable in the last three years. Small centres of cattle stations and communities are a limited focus of attention as we seek to develop a ministry pattern, often disrupted by the wet, the distance and small disasters. Populations are Tennant Creek 3500, Elliot 600, and Borroloola 800 and, about another 1000 scattered over one third of the NT. The other focus of the ministry is in the Army Reserve, which covers the whole of NT and the Kimberley region of WA. It's good to know God is 'Onmicompetent'. Rev. Tom and Mrs. Carol Williams who had been in Tennant Creek for some years, completed their ministry in the town during 1999 and have moved to Victoria. |
