Derby Parish |
| Gateway to the gorges, Derby is on
King Sound. 2500 km's from Perth and 1800 km from Darwin.
The parish covers the West Kimberley, an area of 102,700
sq. km's from Christmas Creek Station in the east to
Derby. It includes a number of Aboriginal communities and
cattle stations as well as the small community of Fitzroy
Crossing. Mud flats on either side reach north into King
Sound with its 800 tiny islands all incorporated in the
'Buccaneer Archipelago' Services are held each Sunday. The work is similar to parish work in other places with the congregation desiring to grow in both faith and understanding so that they may be effective in both the parish and general community. |
